When you see trouble – please do two things: Call 911 AND contact your neighbors.
Residents of the South Oakwood-Brookhaven community must call 911 in the highest possible numbers to get the attention this community needs from 003rd District Police. Their response is based on our calls.
Reach out to your trusted neighbors to form phone/text trees on your block.
Then, when anyone has to call 911, also reach out to the rest of your tree to call 911 along with you, reporting the same issue, to ensure multiple calls about that issue go into police at once.
Reach out to neighboring blocks also affected by the same issue to solicit their help in calling 911, too.
There is strength in numbers!
With the recent shooting, drug activity, loitering, loud music, littering and illegal fireworks our community must unite to re-establish and maintain safety and a decent quality of life.
There are a number of online resources to help block clubs get started, including My Block, My Hood, My City.
Even though our next election is not until March 15, 2022, it's always a good time to get registered to vote.
Visit the Chicago Board of Elections website at chicagoelections.gov for all the details.
ANYONE CAN VOTE BY MAIL - NO REASON NEEDED!
