Update July 24, 2011:  We are 'looking good' after a lot of heat that usually generates more algae this time of year.  Due to the water level (all time high) we have had to increase the amount of chemicals used and are currently "at budget" ($1530). However, as the heat continues into August, we will probably need about another $400-500 to address the increased nutrients and algae that emerge.

The problem is that we have only received $1100 in dues for 2011.  We do have reserves from last year, but the August treatments would "max out" the account.

Do we need a meeting to vote on the increased expenditures?
Because of the reserve, we do have enough for this year but may have to increase pond dues to $75 next year.  Pond Leaders, please encourage payments from people in your area = let us know if you need a list of those who have not paid.

Update June 17, 2011:  The pond has been treated with copper sulfate (treats the chiggers and algae) as well as the Whitecap (kills the weed growth) and that blue tint in the water is called 'sunglasses for the pond' that retards future algae growth.  Jim put Sparklean pellets in which will help get rid of the dead plant life on the bottom and also put 50 pellets around the pond that get rid of mosquito larvae. There's a new product to attack the cattails out this year that he sprayed on both the cattails and the thistles on the beach of the green house that is unoccupied.  So, in a nutshell, all of the treatment has been done that we can possibly do at this time of year.  Some may need to be redone as summer heats up - please keep us aware off issues you see that may need attention.  THANKS!

WHILE YOU'RE ON THIS SITE... check it out and give us your feedback... also look at the advantages of upgrading to premium for $120 per year.  There are a lot of advantages to doing that but we would need your votes to move in that direction!!
