You ask a good question
Your question is good. You should ask Dr. Thiede or George Vickroy. If you don't get the answers that satisfy you then take your concerns to the local paper or a School Board Member.
Change won't occur here - it occurs when you interact with the decision makers of the school district.
Same with the teacher some people believe should be fired. Do more than write about it here. Make a phone call to the principal then the Super Intendent. If you don't have time to do that then you need to be happy with what you get. If that's not the answer take a step toward change. It happens one person at a time.

My Impression
Dear Another Parent,
My impression is that you would like to whitewash this whole incident by telling people to take care of it on an individual basis. If individual parents communicate with Dr. Thiede or a School Board member, change is unlikely to occur. The Pickerington Area Taxpayers Alliance, on the other hand, has effected change, partly because people are free to share ideas on this website.
If the person who posted anonymously described the events accurately, then the school administration IS the problem. It's highly unlikely that a call to Dr. Thiede or a School Board member will solve the problem.
Perhaps you are correct about one thing. Maybe a call to This Week in Pickerington, The Pickerington Times-Sun, The Southeast Messenger or The Columbus Dispatch will get the ball for change rolling.

Parent expectations
As a parent I think we should expect that our children can go to our school system and feel safe. If that expectation of a safe environment can't be achieved then a strong line of communication should exist between the school administration and the parents. At the very least these police runs should be reported in the local paper. I fully understand that squad runs now are affected by the new HIPPA laws and that medical information can not be given out about anyone to anyone.
However a few years ago I would see police runs published in the paper. I no longer see anything about police runs to the school district only a bad check being passed at 1300 Hill Road. I think when parents do see students attacking teachers and other students it is important for the entire community to know about these issues because it does affect the ability of the schools to teach.
Do we need more security? Is there a cover up? Is the school system trying to whitewash their performance? As a adult parent I can take the bad news and if I am aware of problems in the schools it may be important to get more involved to solve those problems.
Not knowing doesn't help anyone.
