Hmmm have you seen the Journal's recent endorsement of our youth center idea? I say 'our' because it's not just me, but a rather large, collaborating group of ours.  ^_^ We've got several more things in the works to promote the project, also.

Right, there are plenty of bars. I wasn't saying to make it illegal to make one, I'm just putting out there that I think we don't need another one.... I don't think it benefits society that much to have so many.  You can build it and go to it if you want - it's not wasting my money or hurting anyone else.

Oh, and I'm 19, not married, no-kids (my bio is that I've run for mayor, I volunteer on a regular basis for some foundations and groups, and that I'm trying to start a youth center now.)

And I would rather not allow smoking in casinos or any other public place. It's simply bad for yours and -other people's- health. But I'm not crazy enough to do that to so many people addicted to nicotine - eventually they'll all grow past their age like everyone does and then we'll hopefully have a new generation that doesn't smoke quite so much.

I try not to change my opinion often on a topic without good reason... so if you catch me being flippant please tell me.

Best,

Ryan

I have read all the postings and have decided the issue was not about protecting people from second hand smoke. If it was, why were the people working in the gambling rooms not offered the same protection? Are they second rate citizens that do not deserve to be protected like everyone else?

No it is about the big money that will be lost if they stop smoking in the gaming rooms. It sure shows you what they think of the rights of the small business owner to decide for himself how to run his business.

what about the rights of the business owner.  what about casinos.ever work at a lumber cutting company, paint shop, rubber shop, coal yard, construction site, janitorial service, plastics plant, metal foundry, chemical plant, garage, gas station, oil refinery, etc. I have worked in a steel foundry in the Q.C. and it was horrible. it had silica sand, manganese and probably a lot more. just a thought !

You said it all mobay.....

The rights of the business owner!

A person has a choice...where to work, where they want to eat, drink, & buy things!  If you get bad sevice, you don't go back..your choice.  No one is forced to go somewhere they don't want to!

All the jobs you listed run risks to a person...I would say this could be proven to be a factor for bad health.  The tests by the EPA and the who study and all the others never have said anything about other factors that could contibute...

As my 12 year old said....every test run has to have the same variables in order to be accurate...but some hate the evil smoker so bad, they would agree with anything.
