Garfield Ridge is a friendly, stable, middle class neighborhood, historically influenced by it's neighbor Midway Airport. Many of the early Polish as well as the more recent Hispanic families have worked in aviation and at Midway. The area has a suburban feel and is almost entirely single family homes, owner occupied. Two nice parks serve the neighborhood, offering tennis, swimming and a newly constructed fieldhouse. Shopping and dining in the area are frequently small businesses, family operated.
