PLSD Doesn't Want Excellence

Walter what I said was ''I don't think he posted his home number for just the people who know him to call.'' Meaning I believe he is encouraging EVERYONE to call him - NOT just those whom he knows! Someone in a prior posting said they didn't know him well enough to call him.

HIS HOME NUMBER IS ON HIS WEB SITE. Maybe he's changed it since the election but I'm sure that was it back in Oct/Nov.

My reference to the dummy email account is for all the people out here who think someone is going to get them if they leave the slighest hint as to who they are.

And as far as your question goes ''What is the different of just using our first names here on this web site posting? ''

There is a HUGE difference - in sending a personal email to someone it at least appears that you are taking the time to contact the person directly vs putting something out in a public forum and expecting that he/she might see it and respond to a bunch of faceless, nameless beings.

I don't want you to waste your time Walter but in the time you've spent posting here you could have sent him 5 emails requesting greater information about what it is that you seek.

In fact - here's a small letter you can start with. email it to jim@jimbrink.org

Mr. Brink, my name is Walter and I'm concerned about your comments in the newspaper about not hanging our hats on state testing. It seems as though you believe that special needs children will bring these scores down but isn't their education as important as everyone elses? I'm concerned that other schools have been able to maintain 'excellent' ratings from the state when Pickerington's rating dropped, and you think it will be almost impossible to return to 'excellence' in our school district. Could you please clarify your comments for me? I look forward to future correspondence with you.

Thank you - Walter.

Who knows - maybe he'll even do something off the wall and actually respond and you can take it from there?

Perceptions

Did you ever encourage anyone on this website to contact Wes Monhollen personally concerning his public comments or decisions? Did you tell people to give Lou Postage a chance?

Is this an attempt to stifle free speech? It looks an awful lot like attacking the messengers and ignoring the message, which is that Jim Brink is perceived to already be off track with his campaign promises. Your energy would be better spent counseling your friend on being he campaigned as, and the person the public voted in to office.

Don't let your friend let us down.
Defenders and Detractors

This has been one very interesting discussion on public statements made by school board member elect Jim Brink and some of his detractors and defenders. It appears that some of you are missing the point and you can?’t see the forest for the trees.

First this web site is open to anyone who has a computer and the ability to log on and get a pass word. Many of the postings over the past few years have been in response to quotes made in the local media. I believe this discussion started from one such quote from Jim Brink. It quickly blew into some other issues that Mr. Brink campaigned on and who he ran with him during the election.

First what is Mr. Brink?’s position on the proficiency testing? These tests are only a part of the State report card. Was Mr. Brink just talking about the tests and the time spent teaching the tests in Pickerington Schools? How does he feel about the other parts of the state grade card? Is school attendance an issue with him? Are the graduation rates a problem with him also?

It was also indicated that Mr. Brink wants to be President of the school board and that he has done his ?“homework.?” First is the group that supported Mr. Brink on board with his desire to become president over Gail Oakes? Does Mr. Brink have an agreement with Gail Oakes on the issues of him running for President? If Gail Oakes doesn?’t support him did he slammed the door in Gail Oakes?’ face for president then where is he getting his support from to even think about running for school board president? If Mr. Brink (using the consensus word) is getting support and votes from Wes Mohollen and Lisa Reade then he has just broken the trust he formed with his many supporters that helped him get elected. If Mrs. Reade is supporting him and this betrayal of her support group then where does she stand in all of this? Maybe they feel they got so many votes they can stand to lose some supporters?

Does Mrs. Reade also think the proficiency tests are a waste of time? What does she think about the other parts of the state grade card? Obviously these two ran as a group along with candidates for other offices in our community. Are these two now going off on their own because their supporters are no longer needed?

It should be a concern to everyone where these school board members stand on issues and how they will treat those that voted for them and did they betray their own supporters? Are they now forming an alliance with the remaining board members (Monhollen and Sanders) and turning on Gail Oakes and her conservative agenda?

If Mr. Brink truly wants to be the board President then his success will depend greatly on who and how many supporters he has. If he wants to change board policy and their approach toward the state report card then he better have first been elected president and then have a majority of the board members on his side. That idea should have been talked about in private and not stated publicly until a policy was actually formed by a majority of members.

Jim you didn?’t win this election in a vacuum.
