Red Ribbon Week 10/26-30th with City Hall Awards@10:15am

RED RIBBON WEEK Tobacco Drugs Underage Drinking October 26th to October 30th 2009 Ceremony in Pawtucket City Hall in the Council Chambers October 30th at 10:15am This year we will once again award trophies to the 3 most creative presentations at the Elementary, Junior High, and High School Levels Special trophy (the 6th annual Sr. Martha Serbst Award) for the Pawtucket school demonstrating the most spirit! This year’s theme is “Your Own Health is Up To You ~ Avoid Both Substance Abuse & The Flu!” Student representatives from each school will be asked to give a 3 to 5 minute presentation on taking charge of your health (and we MUST ask that you keep within the time guidelines!) Suggestions include but are not limited to: Poetry/Song/Poster Work/Other Art Creation/Dance/Skit Demonstrate your talent! Refreshments provided! Please have fun with your activity and we’ll see you on the 30th! Be in the know about harmful substances (Alcohol, Tobacco, Drugs & Germs!) Make Healthy Choices! Keep Your Mind & Body Strong! Get Vaccinated! Wash Your Hands! Know the Negative Effects of Alcohol & Drugs! Take charge of Your Life! It Belongs to YOU!

The Pawtucket Substance Abuse Prevention Task Force in conjunction with the Pawtucket School Department will be holding a Red Ribbon Rally at City Hall in the Council Chambers on Friday October 31st between 10:30 & 11:30am. This annual event recognizes Pawtucket students' efforts to promote drug abuse prevention by showcasing their artistic creations depicting drug free lifestyles. This year's theme is focused on the dangers of underage drinking. "Underage Drinking---Not a Minor Problem!” All Pawtucket schools will be involved (grades 1 through 12) and representatives from each school will be bussed to city hall for the ceremony.
