No!! You can't.....

Actually, mortimer, you should get your facts straight before making insults and trying to silence others. The Demoncratic majority leader of the 81st Congress was Scott W. Lucas of Illinois. That Congress ran sessions from Jan 1949- Jan 1951. Korean War started in 1950. Truman, a demoncrat president, with a demoncrat Congress, took us to war there. Ask them why they did not declare war or withhold troops!

Then the 82nd Congress majority leader was Demoncrat Ernest McFarland of Arizona. That Congress ran double session from 1951-1952; then 1952-1953.

The 83rd Congress ran sessions from Januray 3rd, 1953 - July 31, 1953 with Robert Taft, as Republican leader. Then it ran from August 3rd, 1953 - January 3rd, 1955 with Republican William F. Knowland as majority leader.

Lyndon Johnson took over as majority leader after that and they kept it for some forty years, giving us all the social ills we have today.

Likewise, a demoncrat president and congress took us to Viet nam too. You see? Demoncrats have always killed more people. Both of those were no-win actions. It now appears you might not understand or know what you say you lived, mortimer.

Where is your proof in all of this buster?  Do I just take your word for it?  Prove it to me sunny boy otherwise you can take a big kiss off my ass.  I was there in Korea smart ass.  Besides running your big mouth where have you been and what have you done for our country .  If I knew where to find you I'd give you a good whats for buster.

Chicken Kiev for lunch today, just knocked me right out. How can a buttery quarter of poultry have such a sand-manish effect on a person? I always thought that it was in turkey, that tryptiphane? I know eggs help put a body to sleep, makes sense then?

No way, no way did Mortimer even hint at that, and there it is again, that niggling relentless sting we feel when one has been bitten but cannot find the flea. I watched  Winston our cat of about a decade now, lay quietly as cats do, and like a clap of thunder he shot bolt upright ,and chomped on his hide like some cannibalistic Omega cat. I get that same feeling when I read things like this. I'm sorry in a human way, for offering you fellas any sort of information, that as you put it, is at your disposal also. After careful treading in that sea of information, I can see now how if you only have 27 options, you aren't going far enough. I also realize too that, after taking your suggestion(s) there was nothing to dispute that "accurate record". The disagreement regarding that , legislative, executive, and warring history since 1797, seems to be then, that one party over another had control and not one party over the other?  Both mostly.

Mortimer obviously has the most impassioned feelings over the issue of congressional control I have ever read. And, though it's understandable that being a veteran of that terrible conflict, he could be a bit biased since it was a Republican that "Cut and Run" You din't really give the man a chance to explain his particular "gander" Rather than thank the man for his service, you fellas only hit him in the memory and insulted his experience, even if you don't see it. I'll give you that he shouldn't have gotten so confrontational (Mortimer), but if you would have said any of that stuff to my nephew Gary, he'd have been looking for you one arm and all.  Maybe the lesson here should be that, when we open up and let folks in, we need a shield of repulsion, kinda like George Reeves had as Superman. Though the stings of our words can seem unstoppable, and the pains they inflict shatter the core of our souls, such a shield cannot always protect our minds eye from the past we/others sometimes assail. Then I think I would have reaffirmed my appreciation of the man's service and congratulate him for getting home, in one piece or not.

I don't know Max, BIG B. Perhaps either or both of you are veterans? Perhaps you too have stories to tell about the Tet Offensive, or crossing the 38th parallel. Or that your brother, father, grandfather, son or daughter are, or have been as such, served this nation as honorably? I take that particular hit lightly, that my history, my books opinions etc. are better than yours. But irrespective of that, accuracy hasn't been diminished. Mortimer IS correct, as Big B. put it so very aptly----- and a gold star for content, it still doesn't diminish that TOTAL control still went to the Repubs in nearly  70% of all the past 140 years.  I would also be remiss not to point out  the "slippery slope"  of the COWARDICE comment. Being it was highly uncalled for, while we spend one second calling the upcoming leadership cowards or cut and run Dems. because they want to do what the two Republican presidents did in both Korea and Vietnam. Were not those conflicts started by enemies of democracy that attacked our nearly defenseless allies? No sirs, Mortimer is not wrong, but might apologize for such harsh words.

This war issue has gotten all mixed up within the elements of waging what most call justified wars, versus simple aggression or misdirection for purposes other than defense of our nation and her allies. Lets be fair, both dems and repubs are in the mix of all these conflicts but once our people get a bad taste out of these wars, we get to the blame game. Once, one of you said that there were Dems on board with Bush also? One republican said NO. 25 Demssaid NO. Guess what happened then, well a little thing we call MAJORITY RULES, (democracy) that being both houses of a republican  Congress said LET"S DO IT. The President, said then:------WAR. Dictatorial leaders all over the globe are killing and oppressing their people at this very moment. Why are we not fighting these oppressive dictators in Africa, Korea, Russia, China, South and Central America? Isn't it our duty then as the mightiest nation there is,  to keep these dictators in check and free those oppressed people? Or is it that there isn't any oil or natural gas  to protect also? Just curious though thankful we are not. This needs to go away.

God Bless.
