Let's look at the big picture Tinman911. I know, as well as you, how much the conservatives hate and despise to admit that Clinton left a surplus when he left office after 8 years. In between that time, Clinton utilized the military in Somalia and the former Yugoslavia so I guess the label chickenhawk wouldn't apply to Clinton.
George W. Bush rides in and in less than a year has our country at war with another country who was no strategic threat, no terrorist threat, no real threat aside from the burgeoning oil fields Saddam had and may have been negotiating with someone, China maybe, that necessitated the current fiscal budgetary deficit our great, great grandchildren will be expected to pay off.
Now please, I don't want to hear about WMD's, Nigerian yellow cake uranium, harboring Al Qaeda, or any of the other nonsense that was propagantized to the American people during the past 8 years. We were promised Bin Laden would be captured, he has not. We were told "Mission Accomplished" which it is not. We were just a few weeks ago told by both Bush and McCain that our economy was in good financial shape!
So you tell me Tinman911. With our country trillions in debt, borrowing money from the Chinese and the European Union, how do you expect our country to recover if we don't raise taxes? Do you believe China and all the other nations we are now in debt to are merely going to wipe the slate clean thereby allowing us to start over?
Those who benefitted during the prosperity of this Nation have a moral obligation to pay their fair share of taxes just as anyone who earns minimum wage. The message is simple. The time for a prolaterate form of government must come to an end. Many people complain about Obama being a socialist or communist. Well from where I sit Tinman911, it appears to me socialism and communism has worked wonders for those who sit atop Wall Street and the investment banks in the form of a taxpayer bail-out ramroded through Congress by both Dems and Pubs, while the poor working stiffs are left with the dreams of capitalism which can't even put food on their table, health and medicine in their cabinets, or gasoline in their vehicles.
Yeah I'm behind Obama all the way. I hope he taxes the hell out of those with incomes over $250,000.00 and goes after capital gains as well. In the following year if he should comes after those in the $100,000.00 tax bracket as well. You want to be an American citizen do your duty and live up to the only to obligations you truly have in life. Death and Taxes.
I still say if and when the bottom falls out of everything we're all going to be standing in the same line for the same hand out regardless of whose President and whose in power.
