I agree with you, are we children that can not make our own choices. do we need the government to protect us from everything including ourselves. C'mon be responsible for your self. stop banning things in a free country. I do not smoke but have friends and co-workers that do. I still think the ban is wrong. don't like smoke that much, don't go there or work there, that simple. these policies are destroying America. gee that should be banned cause I don't like it. freedom carries choices, do not take my choice away cause you don't want yours! if you need to have every aspect of your life protected then move to a place that is like that! I can deal with smokers cause I can deal with a choice! I don't go to bars cause I choose not to drink. I do not expect it to be outlawed because I do not want to do it! America the land of the free. with freedom comes responsibility and choice! exercise your right to choose !!!!!!! and do it responsibly!!!

In my opinion, it's very simple.  We live in a free society.  That freedom of choice is what America is SUPPOSED TO BE ABOUT, FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE!  Undecided  I like other's ideas; allow the business owners post whether they allow smoking or not & allow consumers make the decision.

FOR CRYING OUT LOUD,  IF I am ADULT enough to make a decision to own my own place & all the decisions that go with it, I certainly HAVE A RIGHT to make this decision!  Any employee I hire would have the opportunity to work in my business or a non-smoking establishment!  HELLO & DA** YOU, POLITICIANS!   The idiot legislators need to learn that we  lived our childhood; had parents & others guide us.  We are adults & make choices; right, wrong or indifferent!

I quit smoking several years ago.  When I did, I had friends that were afraid to light up in front of me, they were afraid they would tempt me.  My response to them was, "This was my choice, not yours.  You have a right to do what you want to do."  That is WHAT A PERSON DOES THAT RESPECTS OTHERS RIGHTS DOES!  Nathan Reichert, don't quote your fiscal numbers to us.  Freedom of CHOICE is what is at stake!  Ryan Kopf, are you listening?  Freedom of choice is what this country was built on.    If non-smokers don't want to be exposed to 2nd hand smoke; they can have that choice if they know ahead of time.  If smokers want to go to a place they can smoke; they know that ahead of time.

It really is that simple!  OH, JUST IN CASE someone wants to try to convince me about the "end result" of smoking; I GET IT!  I'm living it w/ someone very close to me.  It breaks my heart every day.

A few years ago, smoking was the "national epidemic".  Right now, obesity is the "hot topic".  As another poster suggested, are overeaters next?  WHERE THE HE** is the line drawn?   A QUESTION...if I'm allowed?  People who quit smoking  have a tendency to gain weight.  MORE OBESE PEOPLE!  Healthy lungs, it's a great thing.  (It really is!).  Money saved is AWESOME!

Are you guys gonna come after us after we quit smoking because we choose food instead?  Where does it stop?  YOU POLITICIANS are walking a very, very, fine line & we are listening & watching.  Before you vote, remember that we are NOT your children, we are adults & EXPECT TO BE TREATED as adults.  FREEDOM OF CHOICE needs to be preserved @ all costs.    PERIOD.

Again, to me, I just don't understand, IF the sales of tabacco products went down, just where in the hell, do they think that they'll get their tax dollars from?  We ALL know, that it'll have to come from somewhere!  How about that hunting license that you just bought, or, the motorcycle you just bought for your son, or, the car, for your daughter, or, maybe they ought to start taxing food items at the grocery store again?  It'll HAVE to come from somewhere, won't it!Cool  Tom.
