When will it stop......today it is the smokers who are evil, tomorrow it could be something that will effect someone else!  You non-smokers, think about it as you are jumping on the wagon, I hope there is nothing you really enjoy, because someone might make the choice to take it away for you, then we will see how YOU feel! There are non-smoking restaurants, because they choose to be....go eat and enjoy the air, but make sure you don't sit to close to the kitchen, I hear the smoke is bad for you.....WAIT, maybe there shouldn't be restaurants, it is harmful to the kitchen help to be there!

It comes down to ONE thing, we live in America and we have freedom of choice...as an individual and a business owner!  The casino's being exempt is crazy....ha ha, do they think we are stupid, revenue, revenue, revenue..... do any other businesses create  revenue?   DUH!! We all pay taxes! But the taxes just are not enough I guess. I know a lot of the talk is bar and restaurant owners having the choice, but what about any other types of business?

I say just make all the smokers and businesses who allow smoking to hang a sign on their door.....CAUTION: SMOKERS ALLOWED

We could get signs for all the bad habits people have and everyone could have a sign to warn people of their bad ways... OVER EATERS AHEAD!       HYPOCRITES AHEAD!     DRINKERS AHEAD!   LIAR AHEAD!    FRAUDULANT PERSON AHEAD!  the list can go on and on....

I am a non smoker for 2 years but I did it because I wanted to not because someone told me I had to.I think its terrible how the government wants to tell people what to do. It kind of reminds you of when Hitler thought he was is charge of everyones life.People should have a right to do what they want to do. If you don't want to be around smoke go where there is none.Because believe it or not smokers have as many rights as the good old folks......If you start paying my bills then I might do what you want me to do...Thats just a old saying but true.

A person putting up the money to open a restaurant ought to be able to decide whether to allow smoking.  People can then decide for themselves whether they want to eat there or work there.  What I can't figure is why the govt subsidizes tobacco farmers (Pays them to grow tobacco with our money) then tells us we can't use the stuff in public.  That seems inconsistent to me at best, cynical at worst

Like I said before, the State of Iowa an unquenchable thirst for the tax dollar.  Where does one think that those billions of tax dollars are going to come from, if smoking and/or owning cigarettes, became illegal all of a sudden?  It's just like the Iowa State Lottery (Powerball) telling us how many "BILLIONS" of dollars Iowa has taken in just from Powerball.  I would say that with revenue like that, there shouldn't be a one of us having to pay a cent in Iowa State income tax.  It CERTAINLY doesn't go for "schools" like it was SUPPOSED to!  The $1 extra cigarette tax (per PACK), is supposed to be going for health care related things.  How comes then, was the City of Muscatine going to charge me $1032/month to continue health care with them after my retirement?  I'm told that in the one year I've been retired, that price has gone up even higher.  How many of you can afford those kind of monthly premiums?  I had to go back to work, full-time, just to be able to afford/get health insurance for myself (being diabetic), and my wife.  This Country is just a far cry different than it was when my father was growing up, or, myself, for that matter.  We REALLY need to get back to the basics in EVERYTHING that we do, both as a Nation, AND, as an individual.  Hope everybody has a GREAT Sunday.  I'm off to do my "thing".  We were so busy yesterday, that you would have thought the Company was closing their doors, or, that the world was coming to an end.  I worked from 7am to 4pm in my regular area, and then from 5pm to 10pm up front.  It didn't finally slow down until 10pm.  I wonder where the people are getting their money from?  Oh that' right, Iowa has an "Unearned Income" provision in the statutes!  I have a step daughter (38), who lives with us (33 years), who works part-time, and got her "unearned income" tax check back (over $2000).  Here I'm retired, drawing a pension, and working full-time, and, will be paying about that amount!  Like I said, something's wrong someplace, and, we DO need to get back to "basics".  AND, off of the damned welfare system, as it is today.  Oh well, have a GREAT Sunday, but, I guess that I've said that already.
