re; rhirdts orig post

a 50% increase in price to 75c - the same as the recently increased price of the qctimes (owner of the musc journal) and i think the price of the des moines register, usa today, and wall street journal.

question - is the journal worth it? i suppose time will tell. i plan to unsubscribe.

a 50% increase in price can stand a 33% reduction in subscription - and break even. given the local newspaper monopoly , that reduction won't happen - so the 'urinal' will come out ahead.

advertisers will receive less value as their rates are probably going up also - with somewhat less circulation.
This is why

I choose to read InMuscatine. The reporting at InMuscatine is at least fair and balanced. If one of our locals politicos or national frontrunners slip up I know I'll get honest reporting from InMuscatine. InMuscatine does have its fair share of detractors but consideration must given for accurate and factual reporting which I've always found InMuscatine.

The Muscatine Journal is nothing more than a poor substitute for the most generic toilet tissue one can find. My dog, who is paper trained by the way, even refuses to relieve herself on the Journal demonstrating that good taste can even be found in animals. For my money I boycott the Journal and the QC Times altogether. I find my satisfaction reading Drudge for national news and InMuscatine for local news.
