I read all the answers to this post. Everyone has valid points. It isn't fair that a citizen with a kind heart & who cares about strays should have to "pay" to protect an innocent animal be penalized. If the "animal control officer" has the priveledge of helping those innocent animals & does not... shame on him. There is a special place for him in the future. The humane society isn't the bad guy here, guys. They are a business. The employees & the volunteers @ our shelter are doing the best they can. They are trying to stay in business as long as they can so they can help as many neglected animals as they can. Does this make sense? I am guessing that they are just as frustrated as many of us about the system. It takes money to stay in business. If all of us animal lovers banded together & gave them... $5-$10 a month...maybe they could afford to take in those strays w/out charging us? There are a lot of charities that need our dollars. Our family was blessed to adopt our precious Angel Marie from them. She was such a beautiful addition to our family. She was hit by a car & is no longer w/ us. It hurt so much. We are so greatful that we had the chance to know her, love her & be a part of her life. The cat that rainman refers to could be a wonderful addition to someone's family if given a chance. The humane society is not the "bad guy". The animal control officer is. I again offer to you, rainman... I will come pick up your stray cat, take him to a place he has a chance & pay the fee. |
