Agree & disagree
I have had some wonderful experiences with Unity Hospital ''staff'', and some horrible experiences.
The bottom line is this...we ARE our own health advocates! A DOCTOR IS NOT GOD! We know ourselves, children & family members & must NEVER sit back & say, ''Oh, ok''.
Case in point. My mother is an extremely strong Irish woman, never complains! A few years back, she went to Unity ER...(RENT A DOC''S)... because of stomach pains. She has other health issues, the doc that saw her decided it was because of those issues. He put her through many tests. He diagnosed her; I have a ''little bit of'' medical background & knew he was incorrect. He was furious & very rude. He decided to do one more test, it would have required my mother to sit up. She could not, the pain was too excrutiating. My mother had never screamed out in pain before! He tried to force it, I refused to allow it. He got VERY ANGRY & tried to kick us out of the ER. I told the nurses to call our Dr., (Dr. Smith). One of the nurses called the surgeon on call.
That surgeon came in, realized that she had an ulcer that had eaten through her stomach, was eating away @ her intestines & said ''we needed to get her into surgery, NOW''.
I got the ER Doc fired from coming to Unity; he can still practice in other hospitals. Had we listened to HIM, my mother would be dead.
E-mail, write to & complain to the hospital if you are treated without respect! A hospital is one of the biggest businesses you will find. There is a lot of competition! Let them know that they HAVE TO STEP UP, or you will take your business somewhere else! Stand your ground; if the hospital you go to refuses to listen; go out of town. DOCUMENT; DOCUMENT... When you have an answer; hit them where it hurts...the pockets.
Make them pay for your mileage, everything. They will listen to that.
