I am never taking my kids there ever again.
Sat. morning I took my daughter out to the new urgent care at the mall. Well they had to call the dr. on call to get an ok to treat her. He said no. So I went to the urgent care at Unity and it was going to take several hours before they could see her. She was coughing so hard she was choking and could hardly breath and would throw up from it and was doing it at that very moment. So I turned and went right in to the ER. They also had to ok it with the dr on call to allow her to be seen for insurance reasons. Again he said no. I said I don't care if I have to pay for this treat her now!
So they seen her. Not once did they address the issue at hand. The dr. gave her a once over and said she has an ear infection. Then they sent the nurse in to have me sign a paper saying they treated her ear infection. I asked her at that time what I should be doing about the coughing. She said ask the pharmacist. I was like WHAT??
So I asked him and he gave me some over the counter cough meds for her (she is under 2 years old and this scares me a bit)
So the next day (Sunday) she is now running a temp of 103.3 and she is still having breathing problems. I once again take her into urgent care where this time the ladies where much nicer and seen her right away. After 2 1/2 hours of tests I find out that she has RSV and pneumonia. The dr. there was shocked to learn that the ER didn't even address the problem we came in with. And said that I was lucky I came in when I did. If I had just blown it off and did what I was told to do by the other dr. the pneumonia could have gotten worse and she could have been hospitalized.
So here I am at home with my baby wishing there was more I could do for her. Her temp keeps bouncing back and forth from 100.1 - 102.3. I keep trying to force meds in her and fluids but she fights me all the time. Now she is just sleeping. I hope that she sleeps it all away and is back to her onry little self soon.
I just can't believe I had to go through all of this to have my daughter treated. There are so many choice words I could use to and about this dr. that kept saying not to treat my daughter that day. I have called the clinic to report him and I am calling the medical board as well. I will not stand around and let some dr. tell me my kid can't be treated for medical problems. My kids are my life and as you all who have children and grand children know we will fight tooth and nail for them and I will never back down.

I understand what you are going thru as they tried their best to kill me a while back until my wife got me to heart doctors at Genises East. I refer to Unity as and old whore in a new dress!!!

And Dr 's wonder why

They get sued!! Report him to every agency tell everyone the doctors name!!!! It is only in this mannor that someone will get their head out of their uhoo and shape up.
Years ago Had a doctor after weeks of complaining that something was wrong with my pregnecy and a very specific list of complaints and a major inaccident happen just before everything went wrong tell me ''I was pregnet I was suppose to feel lousey!'' I didn't act of my gut instencts and was told just hours after my childs birth ''he has just 2% chance of survival through the night''
My sons life was saved at a great expence to him with learning and visual and phisical disibilities he will deal with the rest of his life. Every time I think of him or watch him struggle to learn something I kick myself for not listening to my gut instinct. Being unable to sue I told EVERYBODY what happened and his dr. name. Because of that he is no longer able to deliver babies at Mercy in I.C. Andthat was 19 years ago! University isn't any better. Niether is the hospital in Davenport. Have had terible experiences in all. Best advise is the most important person to listen to is yourself. If it dosen't feel right or sound right speek up. And keep speeking up untill you are heard. If not here, then go somewhere else. Be your own advocate. Hope your child get better soon.
