I have to agree

with a couple of other posters. Bob Howard's brother has passed away and may be the timing of this post was not meant to coincide with the opinion as others have so duly noted. However, I believe Bob Howard and the rest of the council are in a Catch 22 situation.

People want to nitpick about who cuts the staffing when we should be looking at ways to keep from having to make any cuts at all. But then those who nitpick would just turn around and bellyache about their property taxes being raised. I don't want my taxes raised but if there are cuts that have to be made let the respective agencies determine those cuts, submit them to the council for approval/disapproval and lets move on.

If you critics are so concerned about whose going to stand up and puff out their chest claiming they ''held the line'' then I suggest next time an open seat comes up on the council you place your name on the ballot for consideration since you obviously feel you're more qualified than Howard, Lange, Bynum and Osama at curing our City's ills.

Howard, Lange, Bynum and Osama

are dodging their responsibilities as elected officials by wanting others to do their dirty work. If others make the decsions on who/what to cut and those decisons have some kind of negative impact on the community, then the cowardly council people can just blame it on someone else instead of their own stupidity. They need to take resposnibility for running the city because it's what they were elected to do.

Thank you Elmer, finally the voice of reason. I don't think the passing of Bob's brother had anything to do with the postings and the lose is too bad for Bob and his family. Unless we all missed the story nothing has been decided yet, people are still doing their jobs and the sky still isn't falling here in Muscatine

BOB IS NOT A COWARD

Bob is honest and trys to do whats right,if you don't agree with him try telling what is wrong with idea in civilized way! Any one who is in Politics can be many things but not a coward;I don't always agree with him but i respect him for trying to do the right thing.Anyone who knows Bob knows he doesn't run away.
