Howard just doesn't get it. The people who foolishly voted for him probably thought he knew what his responsibilites to them would be.
He is having a difficult time grasping the concept that it's his job to make the decisions that effect his constituents, that's what he got elected to do.
He wants the city staff to cut the budget, I think he and his cronies should cut the budget which in turn impacts city services. That way, when things go bad he can prodly stand up and say ''I did that.''
No, he wants to scape goat the staff so he can say he was just going along with what they proposed.
Have some guts, do the hard thing, then take respsonsibility for your actions, or lack of them.
Cut police, fire, emt's, streets, cut it all so that it works even worse than it does now. That way when someone dies, is injured or in some other way is harmed by his decsions he can proudly stand up and tell everyone he ''held the line'', and to hell with those that are adversely impacted by his lack of intestinal fortitude.
Do your job Bob Howard, and stop trying to shove the hard decisions on the city staff. You make them, that's what you got elected to do.
I can't imagine how much this guy ''does not'' deserve to be elected to a state office if he runs away and hides from difficult decisions.

Right on the

nose rhidt!!!!!!He and the rest of the gutless wonders need to either wake the heck up or move the heck out.
At least Bynum had the guts to find places to cut...not that hes any smarter, he just was smart enough to find proposed cuts. I too cant wait to see what it is they do now. As I see it they are pretty much in a corner that they put themselves into.

Maybe?

Maybe a better idea would be to send the budgets back to the departments and let them take another look at them. The department staffs know best what could be cut and I know I would be real upset if someone outside the department just started cutting. Then if more cuts are needed then the council steps in. And the OMG ''someone is going to die'', well you can save that drama for your momma, the people in the public safety departments will do the best job they can with new equipment, old equipment or no equipment, it's the people, they are the best at what they do but sometimes god forbid it doesn't work out right. How about this, how much more are you willing pay in your property tax bill?
Shoot away guys..

I'm willing to pay

The emergency management tax levy. I can see the big picture unlike the city council.
