The problem

Where did this emergency need come from? It seems the first few years we had the money for the joint dispatch. Did we get ourselves into something that works great and is great but we can't afford. The problem I have is these taxes or the emergency management tax levy never seem to go away and they never seem to get smaller. They're like the old county and western song, ''How can I miss you if you won't go away.'', I presume you have to live within your budget as I do. The line needs to be established.

It is not an

''emergency'' as in it is urgent that the tax is an emergency...It is called emergency tax because of the intended use. ...emergency communications. MUSCOM is not only a good idea that works, it is past time for many more joint efforts by the city/county/schools to happen. Think of themoney that canbe saced by all taxpayers if there was just a little cooperation between agencies. How many gas pumps are there in Muscatine that are operated by the 3 govt agencies. Each one has a set of pumps, tanks and monitoring system. How much money can they save in insurance costs with a bit of cooperation? The list in endless if a few in power were willing to cooperate. I contend that polticians really dont want to save taxpayers money. They want to protect their power more than anything else.
I am willing to pay the emergency communications tax levy to have the level of services we now have.
