To all the participants in our 2011 Toy Drive - we received this letter of thanks ...
Dear Marlborough Mesa,
I am overwhelmed by your outpouring of love and support for the foster families of our community. Our “Holiday Gift-Away” was a huge success! You helped us bring hope during the 2011 Holiday season in a huge way!
Almost 1,400 children in foster families and group homes received gifts. These children have been moved from their families and their possessions – all that is familiar – and the gifts you provided have given them treasures to call their own.
Santa’s workshop was set up in a large multipurpose room at Mesa First Church of the Nazarene, just down the street from Helen’s. Our foster families came in by appointment, and each had a wonderful Christmas Elf to help them choose the perfect gifts for their children.
The foster families were so grateful! With such little funding to help them care for these children, the thought of providing extras, such as gifts at holidays and birthdays, can feel overwhelming. One lady who had picked out all of her children’s gifts was brought to tears when she received gift cards to purchase the children shoes as well. Santa’s elves witnessed many tears of joy and were often teary-eyed themselves.
Thank you for partnering with us in this inspiring work. We couldn’t have done it without you!
Sincerely,
Emily Strunk
