The Beeler Street Community Garden was founded in 1995 by the late Doris Elmsley, a grandmother and fearless community activist who chose to combat drugs and violence in the neighborhood and unite the community.
Before Doris built this vibrant community garden, the lot at 1675 Beeler was vacant, with a drainage ditch and accumulated trash. Today it’s an inspiration to the entire community.
