Woodland Oaks Homeowners' Association

Newsletter Ad issue....

Posted in: Woodland Oaks

I was reading the newsletter this evening and notice a family recognized for the dance team and honor roll and their motherfor completing her associates degree. So did the family pay for the ad. It reads like the HOA is congratulating the FAMILY(meaning our HOA fees helped/paid for this ad). It's odd to have the 3 recognized from the same family and only them.

MOST IMPORTANT-I don't understand how people can be on the board as any position not actually being a homeowner/renter. Living with family members shouldn't be consider a homeowner/renter. So for that reason should not hold a board member position.

I think that the HOA needs to be looked into further. I feel that other issues need to be addressed but the BIG issue is why is someone on the board and gets to do things while just "living with parents". Others might want to do this position but how can they when a non-homeowner/renter is holding the position. If you read other nearby HOA's rules any board member to include activities etc must be a homeowner and/or renter with a lease to prove renter status.

First of all, the article i the Oaks Folks about the family being recognized was not an ad but a piece of news about members in the neighborhood.  Any news like this is always welcome in the Oaks Folks and if you have any info, please contact Samm Henness, the Editor, with the info.  Her contact info is on the Oaks Folks pages.  Those items which actually advertise are charged respective fees but the youth ads are free as a service to the members and the youth.

If you are interested in seeing where the Association Bylaws authorized anyone even a non-member to serve on the Board, check out the Bylaws Article 4, Section 4.1.on the website under Pages and Sites.  However, there is  no one currently holding a Board position that is not a resident member of the Association so I am wondering if you might be referring to a committee member.  Check out the Bylaws on this too and you will see that only the President and Vice President must be Board members and the Board can appoint anyone in the other positions.  I believe that the Board has made it clear that anyone residing within the neighborhood in whatever status is invited to get involved and if more residents, whether voting members or not,  did get involved, there would be a better understanding of the Association process. If you are interested in getting involved and "looking into the HOA further", there are some Board member positions open just now so contact Will Brown at 659-1055 to put your name up for a Board or a Committee appointment.
