Moving to Fort Worth!!!

Posted in: Central Meadowbrook

I am considering moving to Fort Worth, and I am hoping some people can give me advice about some good neighborhoods that are affordable (below 100k).  I like the looks of the central meadowbrook. I reall like the 1920's or 1950's ranch style.  I am really only considering old neighborhoods.

From what I've gathered, though, parts of the east side have lots of crime issues. Is that concentrated or does is spread all over the eastside?

The crime is pretty concentrated. I live in the Eastern Hills neighborhood, and its very green and woodsy with older style houses. A lot of crime watch and neighborhood patrols are out watching and you get a frequent neighborhood newsletter.

I just moved to Eastern Hills and am pretty excited about the move.  If you want to make your own decission about the rate of crime try looking at www.crimemapping.com.  Put in an address and the system will show you crimes reported over a specific length of time, default is five days I think.  There is crime everywhere, this is a city with a varied population after all. But, after watching that site for the last six months I decided that this neighborhood, for the money I wanted to spend and the distance to everythign I wanted to do, was the best for me.  It is beautiful, with old trees, well cared for houses, and hills!

You really have to decide what you are comfortable with.  There are very few places that do not have crime of some sort (I live in a downtown apartment now and in the last year there has been at least two vehicular burgluries and two home invasions....and downtown is heavily policed.)  I would rather live in Eastern Hills than an anticeptic cookie cutter neighborhood way far away from everything.  But, that's my decission. Your's might be different.

Thanks for the website.

I have been leaning towards Eastern Hills.  I love the big lots and oak trees. I definitely couldn't stand a new subdivision where you might pull in to the wrong driveway because all the houses look alike.

I used to live in a high crime area in Austin, but since I rented it didn't bother me much. The tire slashing bum was quite a concern though.  Now that I am buying I want to make a good investment.

Thanks for the replies.
