Willow Creek Neighborhood Watch

December 2009 Newsletter

Mar 10, 2009

I hope that everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving.
Just an update. Our new Captain, Larry Voirol, wants me to let people know that he updated the section on our website titled "About Willow Creek Neighborhood Watch" and he will try to update every month. So go check it out. The website is listed above, for those of you who have not yet visited.

We will be having a Christmas House Decorating Contest like we did for Halloween. I heard Santa will be judging on Thursday December 18th at 7:30pm.

Ooops!!

I made a mistake last Newsletter. I said that the 2nd Place Winner in the Halloween contest was Stephanie Nuttle but it was STEVEN Nuttle. Sorry!!

Keep the Season Merry with these Holiday Safety Tips:

**Christmas Trees start about 400 fires a year. So please when you go out or go to bed unplug them and any other holiday lights you may have plugged in.

**Unplug lights before changing bulbs.

**Limit the time you have lights/trees plugged in, so they won?’t get too hot.

**Try not to use extension cords. If you have to, please limit the number of items plugged in.

**If you have a ?“real?” Christmas Tree, be sure to check the water level each day. A 6 foot tree uses about 1 gallon of water every 2 days.

**Make sure you only use outdoor lights for the outside.

**If you use candles for decorations, be sure to extinguish them before you leave or go to bed. Be sure to put lit candles far enough away from curtains, fabric, etc.
**ALWAYS have a working fire extinguisher in the home/garage.

For Our Pets:

**Holiday plants like Poinsettias, Mistletoe and Holly Berries may add beauty to our homes, but they are very poisonous to our pets. So please, keep them out of reach.

**Do no feed your pets Turkey bones, They splinter very easily and can become lodged in your pets throats or intestines.

**Tinsel/Streamers are deadly for animals if they eat them.

**If you have a lot of guest for the Holidays, you might have a quiet room for your pets.

Remember, your pets will be delighted with all of your decorations, thinking them as new toys to play with., You know they are not good for them, but they don?‘t.

Happy Holidays to all. May you and your family have a safe Holiday Season.....

Willow Creek N. Watch:
We will NOT have a Meeting in December due to the holidays. We will start back up on Thursday January 8th at 7pm. The place will be announced at a later date. The attendance has dropped tremendously, we only have a handful of people showing up. Is there anything we can do to make it more interesting to attend? These meetings are pretty important for the safety of our Neighborhood.
