Westwood Homeowners Association

What the Association Does

The Westwood Homeowners Association, incorporated in 1961 as Home Owners Association of South Westwood, Inc., is a non-profit corporation that addresses issues that affect the Westwood neighborhood in Los Angeles, such as public safety, traffic abatement, and especially building development. The Association maintains a close relationship with the City of Los Angeles through its City Councilman, Paul Koretz.

Eligibility for Membership; Dues

You are eligible to be a member of the Association if you own a house, a duplex, or a condominium (as long as that condominium is in a building of four or fewer stories or in an apartment building of four or fewer units) that is located in the part of Los Angeles bounded on the north by Wilshire Boulevard, on the east by the Los Angeles Country Club, on the south by Santa Monica Boulevard, and on the west by Sepulveda Boulevard. See Article 1, Section 1, of the Association's By-Laws for more detailed information.

Membership dues are $25 for each calendar year. The dues are spent solely on Association matters, such as mailings, secretarial staffing, office supplies, and third-party professional fees. The Association’s Directors are volunteers and receive no compensation for their time.

Meetings; Keeping Members Informed

In the first half of each calendar year, the Association holds a general meeting for all its members. During the rest of the year, the Association’s Board of Directors meets once monthly, usually at 7:00 p.m. on the first Tuesday of every month at the Parish Offices of St. Paul the Apostle Church, located at 1536 Selby Avenue, just south of Ohio Avenue. In addition, the Board occasionally holds special meetings. The Board's policy is to open monthly and special (but not Executive) Board meetings to all paid members of the Association and to non-member guests invited by the President.

To inform its members of matters that concern the neighborhood, the Association issues an annual newsletter, monthly official minutes of meetings of the Association’s Board of Directors, and monthly unofficial (and more-detailed) synopses of these meetings.
