Pictures - League's 100th Anniversary Celebration - 10/12/13

The Wakefield Taxpayers & Civic League, Inc. celebrated its 100th Anniversary on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at The River's Edge, on McLean Avenue, Yonkers, New York (across the street from the Wakefield boundary).  A buffet dinner, open bar and DJ from 7-11 p.m.

Notes:

All those who atteneded that night received a reprint of Professor Lloyd Ultan’s presentation “Wakefield And The Bronx” that he made at the League’s September general meeting.  Professor Ultan is the official Bronx County Historian, The Bronx County Historical Society. To view the presentation go to:  http://www.neighborhoodlink.com/Wakefield_Taxpayers_-_Civic_League and then "Wakefield And The Bronx" link (left side of page).

If you are wondering why the League's customary blue & white banner was changed this year to purple & white: The traditional color for a 100th Anniversary is Purple (A Regal Color).

In 1984 to meet the crisis in rising violence against children, the League submitted to the Police Department the award winning program Safe Way/Safe Home (SWSH). As a result of the League's work, the official NYS child safety symbol is the McGruff Dog.
