Dear Member or Visitor,

Welcome to our web site for Temple Sholom, THE Conservative Synagogue in Mill Basin/Bergen Beach.

For 53 years we have served our immediate area and surrounding communities with a friendly, family oriented Synagogue environment. We offer traditional religious services, an afternoon Hebrew School, Adult Education, Youth Activities, Holiday celebrations, and a variety of religious and social programs.

Our new Rabbi, Joel Weintraub, leads all services. In a very short time he has endeared himself to our congregation. If you have not done so already, come to one of our Shabbat services, meet the Rabbi, and be part of our inspiring services. Membership includes free High Holiday tickets for the member(s) and single children up to age 30.

Our Hebrew School meets on Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 3:30 to 6:00 PM. There is no tuition, and only a few relatively minor fees, for members of Temple Sholom. We work hard to maintain excellence in the School. Just ask one of the 80 happy children currently enrolled. We accept applications for new students at any time.

Our youth programs include a Kadima group, a USY Chapter, Jr. Congregation and Tot Shabbat services, and a new Hebrew High School.

Our Synagogue has several ?“arms?” that are important to the Temple. These include Sisterhood and Men?’s Club, and also Couples Club, Afternoon Circle, Bowling Club, Choir, Funday Sunday, Players, and more. There is more than one for you here at Temple Sholom.

Adult Education includes regular week night discussion by the Rabbi (set up in series), periodic Shabbat ?“lunch and learn?” sessions after services, regular Shabbat discussions after Mincha, Hebrew classes, and more.

Temple Sholom is very proud of our new Rabbi, our Cantor Steve Shor, our School Principal Riva Suberi, and our School, Maintenance, and office staffs. We are also very fortunate to have a dedicated group of 100 volunteers, members who lead or assist in the many functions required to maintain the Synagogue. You are cordially invited to join this group, and we welcome your ideas, suggestions, and your involvement.

I want to thank June Koutros for initiating and developing this new web site for our Temple. As it develops, we hope it will become an important tool to communicate to and between members of our congregation.

Hope to see you soon?…

Barry Weintrob
President
