Shawnee Neighborhood Association

The Shawnee Neighborhood Association evolved out of the wet-dry effort in 2007 and was served by an interim board of dedicated community leaders until its first permanent board was elected in 2008.  At the 2009 membership meeting in July, the new board was elected with the staggered terms taking effect so all positions aren't up for re-election at the same time.

For the first time, a representative of the community will now serve to represent Section 4, the area bounded by Market Street on the north; 34th Street on the east; River Park on the south; and 41st Street on the west.  The Section Representative seats for this area had been vacant for the last two years.

The SNA also has committees that need member involvement, including Budget/Finance, Communications, Business/Minesterial, and others on a periodic basis to help with membership, fundraising, and other functions.

The SNA has been instrumental in helping inform and engage the community on topics such as zoning, community cleanups, Weed & Seed, crime prevention, Shawnee High School activities, and many other areas of interest to the residents of Shawnee.

Shawnee also enjoys close ties with neighbors in Portland and Chickasaw as well.
