Seton Hill Organizations Together was started in 1997 for the purpose of improving communications between organizations, apartment complexes, and establishments surrounding the historic district with those inside the district, such as the Seton Hill Association and St. Mary Spiritual Center.

A secondary goal was to give a say to all groups in setting the priorities and participation in decision making about the needs of the Greater Seton Hill Community which is defined as including the one to two blocks surrounding the historic district. This area can generally be defined as the triangle inside Howard Street, Martin Luther King, Jr Blvd, and Mulberry or Saratoga Street.

Membership in Seton Hill Organizations Together is voluntary, and is open to any group in the area which may wish to send a representative to the meetings. The focus of the meetings has been to protect and improve the neighborhood.

Some topics which have been discussed are the development of the old St. Joseph Seminary into apartmkents for seniors, cruising on Eutaw Street, screening of parking lots, window replacement at the State property on Monument and Eutaw, a liquor license application for a huge club on Howard Street, safety on the streets for those in wheelchairs, West Side plan, crime and grime, etc.
