Housing Arizona: Foreclosure Prevention

Dear Friends,

Arizona families are feeling the effects of the national economic downturn, and need all the help they can get to stay on their feet and in their homes.

I'm glad to announce the launch of "Housing Arizona", which will provide more than $13 million of additional resources to help prevent foreclosure and fight homelessness in our state.

A portion of these funds will go toward strengthening the Arizona local foreclosure hotline that we have established for families concerned about their mortgages. If you know anyone who is falling behind on their mortgage payments or fears falling behind, encourage them to contact the hotline at 1-877-448-1211. This hotline puts callers in touch with local foreclosure counselors in their particular areas of the state so they can receive advice and guidance wherever they are.

The new funds will also provide help to local governments and nonprofit groups in Arizona that are keeping families in their homes and our communities strong. The Housing Arizona initiative will also provide funds to create new partnerships to fight homelessness - particularly among children, veterans, and those with mental illnesses.
