risks of signing the gas lease

Posted in: River Trails
Hello Everyone; Like all of you, I got the lease letter yesterday. It was all about the benefits of the lease. To make an informed decidion, please...please read this article about the risks and consequences of allowing that in our neighborhood.

http://www.bluepageshome.com/Gas%20Drilling.htm

To mention some of the risks...It will raise our property taxes (even for seniors)and that increase may be more than the royality we receive, the value of the homes will go down the drain, the water flow will decrease as well as the air quality (aggrevating athma and we may get sick from the chemicals)in addition to the risks of explosion.

Also lots of strangers will be going around our homes and our kids! Plus the traffic will be horrible with all those trucks.

Please let your neighbors reed this link.

Drilling

We went to the first meeting and were under the impression that if a percentage of people signed - they would drill. And if you were one that did not sign - you would not receive any compensation even though they now had the right to drill. Is this true? Also, after reading all the complications that we will have once they do start drilling - it is not worth it. Hence the reason why so many homes are going up for sale. Should the drilling begin - I am not sure we would want to stay if all these health risks are true.

Bedford said No!

The city of Bedford banned together to 'Just Say No!', no no drilling is occurring in the city of Bedford. We should follow their lead!

They have not drilled in our neighborhood as of yet because we have not signed anything yet. If we continue to not sign, they will continue to not drill right next to us. They will have to go further out, and drill horizontally from further away. Its harder work for them, but why should we care? As long as they are not in our neighborhood doing the drilling, we should care less about how hard they have to work to get to the gas under our soil. Why make it easier for them at the expense of our property values, health, and way of living?

drilling

Wait a minute, they are drilling in our neighborhood already..what are you referring to? We are surrounded by wells already. Where is this new one proposed to be placed, or are they going to use an existing site? I know I can get these answers if I go to the meeting....but they are drilling right next to us right now.
