Poll: Are you signing the lease?

Posted in: River Trails
if we say no, they cant drill

If the majority of us say NO, then they cant drill. Its as simple as that. The City of Bedford said 'No' and didnt sign, and no drilling is going on in their town!

By being passive and signing because you think they will anyway, you are digging a hole you cant get out of. Have you bothered to do any research of your own or are you letting the gas executives woo you with their measly offerings? Please dont be passive, make an informed decision before you sign. They haven't drilled in our neighborhood yet because we havent signed anything yet. If we continue to not sign anything, they will continue to not drill in our neighborhood. Its as simple as that. yes, they will get to the gas underneath at somepoint with or without us signing, BUT they will have to work MUCH harder to get to it and they will have to do it MUCH farther away from our neighborhood. I could care less if they get to the gas under my soil, as long as they are not drilling right next door to my neighborhood. Worst Case Scenario. What If...? It may be rare, so far, but the odds of a major catastrophe are increasing daily. If a gas well did blowout in an urban neighborhood, what would happen? A gas well DID explode in rural Palo Pinto in ?‘05, leveling and burning one square mile, leaving behind a crater hundreds of feet wide. It?’s very easy to imagine the death and carnage a similar explosion would cause in our neighborhood. http://www.nbc5i.com/news/5551640/detail.html
Where Have All the Flowers Gone? If gas drillers get their way, there will be at least 3,000 gas wells in Fort Worth alone. Considering that pad sites require removal of all vegetation, Fort Worth will lose a minimum of 15,000 acres of greenspace over the next few years, from natural gas production. That is equal to more than 137 F.W. Botanic Gardens.

?“Clean Burning?”? Natural gas releases several types of carcinogens, including, benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene and xylene. The production of the gas denigrates our air, water and soil. A single well consumes millions of gallons of fresh water.

Duck & Cover! The most toxic material on the planet is a byproduct of gas drilling in the Barnett Shale: NORM (Naturally Occurring RADIOACTIVE Material). And you thought Iran was dangerous. Read more and see a slide show, here:

I dont want their stinkin money

My family's health is worth more than what they can afford to pay.
They want our land, we've held them off by not signing, just keep holding off. Bedford held off and there is no drilling in Bedford because they all said NO!!! We should follow their lead!

We will only recieve approximately $1500 bonus per lot and $25 monthly royalties per lot depending on the production of the wells. It will be less if the wells do not produce much.

We will have to pay income tax on any bonus and monthly royalties we may receive. Our property taxes will go up. Our homeowners insurance will go up. Our health will go down, making our healthcare costs go up. Our property value will go down, so you wont be able to sell your house if you want to or need to later.

People who signed a few years ago still havent seen a dime.

I know someone in Burleson who owns 10 acres. They signed with Chesapeak to allow them to put 3 wells on their 3 acres. The 3 neighbors with land adjacent to theirs objected and now no drilling will occur on their land.

Saying NO will stop the drilling in our neighborhood, we all have to ban together and say No as a group for it to be effective.

You need to do some research

I think that everyone is looking at quick financial gain (not much really) and not looking at the long term effect on property, health and community. Several websits have been provided. Just do a little reading. You might change your mind.

Thanks for this info

Thanks for the links provided. I'm certainly re-thinking my position. I have to admit I was drawn in by the initial 'bribe' of money. The fact that drilling can go on anyway seems to be a driving force to some who are willing to sign because they think they have no choice. It is interesting to learn about the different ways drilling can take place. I think we should consider the less invasive type. I for one am willing to forfeit a couple of hundred dollars now in order to protect the investment we've made in our home and lifestyle.
