Garbage Cans Should be Concealed

Posted in: Park Place
I want to start an effort to have Park Place neighbors honor deed restrictions and conceal their trash cans from the general public. I have asked the PPCA for help with this, and plan to pursue it.

I have limited space in my garage and store my large green can outside just like many others. But I have concealed it behind a two-sided fence at the corner of my house.

I assume others store their cans outdoors because of space in the garage, because the cans can stink, and because of convenience to the curb, just like me.

Is there anyone who could cheaply help other Park Place neighbors put in posts and fence surrounds to conceal garbage cans even at the front of the property?

I have been informed that many, many neighbors disagree with me about the eyesore factor being more important than the convenience factor and the deed restriction. But I am tired of looking at trash cans when I sit on my front porch, and I really believe they detract from the neighborhood, and ultimately property values will be affected.

Based on my calculation, the cost of the fence surround is likely less than the fine imposed by the city for failure to comply with the deed restriction. I am hoping that all Park Place neighbors are in compliance with the deed restriction by the end of 2008.

If you or someone you know is interested in helping neighbors build fence surrounds to conceal the trash cans for other neighbors, please, contact me at my email address or by calling 614-759-0713. Also, if you would like help concealing your trash can from the general public, call me and we'll see what can be done. I am available days, evenings, and most weekends.
