7/8 of a Track @ Central

Posted in: PATA
Looks like the Central folks got the short end of the stick again. Word has it that there is only going to be a 7 lane track @ Central stadium. Just try to attract any kind of major event with a fraction of a track.

Hmmmmm..... How many lanes are @ the Golden Palace?

Sorry, Central does not have a stadium. Make that Ridgeview JUNIOR HIGH Stadium.

Even the developers know what a selling point the North School is. Just look at some of their ads that boast ''Located in the Pickerington North District''

That's funny, I didn't know Pickerington had two districts.

Reality Check

Have you been down to the Soccer & Track Complex at the Jessie Owens Stadium facility at Ohio State University?

It's 9 lanes. GROW UP !!!

Just because a past school board went overboard does not mean every subsequent school board should - that is NOT what the taxpayers want. There is not 7 additional feet to make the track wider without impacting the field. The papers reported an extra 4 feet was asked for but simple math will tell you 42'' * 2 = 84'' - the track is on both sides of the field right? Ohio High School will tell you to have a district competition you need 42'' lanes, they have 8 - 36'' lanes currently.

Why rebuilt Tiger Stadium?

What am I missing here?

First we see the board demolish the Ridgeview stadium and say they must build a new one because the current one is what? ''outdated, unsafe, not big enough.'' The second point is that this stadium which is suppose to serve the Central High school athletics is NOT LOCATED at the HIGH SCHOOL to which it is suppose to be used.

Next this board tears out the track. OOPS we don't have enough room to build an 8 lane track like the other North High who has their track located near by the school.

I think what I am missing is if we were going to do all of this work and spend all of these tax payers monies then why didn't we just abandon the Ridgeview Stadium and build a new one next to Central High School?

Now if the answer to that question is we don't have enough room to build a stadium at Central then this ineptness has been going on for years now hasn't it?

For those that support this insanity and accuse some of us of being children then so be it. Children don't have the right to vote I do.
share to be fair

gee, why can't Central and North Share the North facilites and use the central facilites for practice? Then is all equal isn't it? Oh I forgot about that four mile bus ride.....This is done all over Ohio in districts where they share sports facilities, the logistics burden to schedule the matches, games and meets is put on the Highly paid athletic directors.
