School Board Meeting

What I've heard from a neighbor, who's a department head at a high school is that the union negotiating team took care of themselves & not their members. Didn't get more specific info.

Supplementals are a piece, insurance is another.

Mrs. Fultz is trying very hard to change the focus from herself to anything else. Blaming the Board changes the subject.

Where can we get contract details?

Didn't see any in the Times Sun.

By Fact or Fiction?
levy is dead

I think most people realize that if the teachers do not support this levy, it is dead...period There are enough disgruntled taxpayers out there to vote no for good reason...now lack of teacher support just cuts out a large portion of traditionally yes voters too.... I believe the board should start over again and get the whole house in order.

For many years the teachers have felt they were not respected by the board and some administrators (regardless of the contract issues,) I have heard this from a broad range of teachers at all levels in the district that lack of respect or communication exists when major decisions are made about the well being of the students in the district. I think they were looking for something different from this board and they are not getting it.... except for Dr. Brink who actively sought the opinions of the teachers and building level adminstrators on this levy issue.

Think about it, in business, your front line employees who have the most contact with the customers are the most important people you have....Ignoring them usually means your business fails...Ignoring teachers will hurt the kids bottom line.

Then get out your checkbook

If you have heard what Dr. Brink thinks we need and agree that's your perogative. It happens to be a lot more money than what's on the table.

Philosophically I like the idea of small schools. But can the community afford them? And if we can afford to build them can we afford to operate them?

Do the teachers want utopia? Can we afford utopia? We are and will continue to be a growing community this will not be the last building needed to be done.

Also if we wantstate funding isn't there something about working with the OSFC or we will be paying for schools for much longer than we need to - are you ready for that too?

By No Union's for Me
Elected whom?

I voted for the school board members to manage the purse strings of the school - not the teachers. The teachers are there to teach - not determine the best use of taxpayers $ for school design.

If they had an alternative proposal then maybe I'd take it a little more serious. However all I see them doing right now is whining.
