My job at Wal-Mart

Yes, anyone who works with the public has LOTS of stories to tell - even some as funny as those on the first page. If Jeff wanted to end his career in retail business I'm certain he could give us some good ones, as Jeff can sure tell a story!

Even as a  customer I sometimes walk away shaking my head in disbelief - kind of like the half dozen chicken nuggets tale. And for gawd's sake if you total has a couple of cents (like 10.02) and you give a larger bill then fish in your pocket and come up with the two pennies the clerk has NO IDEA what to do now. I've learned to either accept the 98cents change and shut up or say right up front that I think I have the change.

I'm with Frazzled and that 'lovely' customer - I probably wouldn't have lasted thru that fiasco either. LOL Thanx for the chuckles.

Yes the guys are right.  There are stories about both kinds.  I posted this on the link a couple of years ago, its one of my favorite stories.

When you own your own business things like profit margin, P & L's, balance sheets and cash flow are important. However. Yesterday a mother with a little pooper in a stroller comes into the store. She also had with her a 3(?) year old daughter. The little girl came in chattering away, she talked and talked. We have a display kitchen set at the front of the store and this little girl started playing with it and all the play food. She chattered the whole time. She was cooking up a storm and I was interacting with her. She would cook the play food and I would taste it. We were having so much fun. And she chattered the whole time. Her mother picked out what she wanted and paid for it and it was time to go. Well they couldn't leave because something wasn't finished "cooking." Her mother was patient with her and she continued cooking and chattering. Finally her mom gets her out on the stoop where we have a big gorilla sitting out in front of the store. She talked to the gorilla and then pulled free of her mother's hand. She came running back into the store and threw her arms around my legs and hugged my knees tightly. "Thank you" she said. Then ran back to her mother chatting away. That is why I own a toy store.

Oh, sheesh.  I was afraid this was going to happen.  I wasn't trying to start another round of the Wal-Mart holy war.  Just thought that this e-mail was really funny.  And, I do have to agree with Tom and Chosen.  When you work in retail, sometimes you encounter people that are real jerks.  sometimes you encounter people that almost seem to be too dumb to function.  Fortunately, though, you meet really great people alot more often than you meetthe really aggravating ones.  ALOT more often.  Thanks for sharing that story again, Jeffpinionated.  zthat's just too sweet for words.

Don't worry about it Frazzled........... Most of us thought it was funny. I agree Jeff's story was just to sweet. (in a good way)

I've learned over the years that some of our funny stories are better left untold, but these are not them. So, please bring on more.
