I am probably going to lose some respect with a lot of you, but this is how I feel. I am a proud American, served over ten years in the military and I do know what a priviledge voting is. But I have decided I am not going to vote this year. My conscience won't let me. There is no one I am excited about or comfortable with. I am very disheartened by our political process if this is the best they can offer us in choices. I think Obama is a good man, but I am not comfortable with his leadership ability. I have rooted for McCain in past presidential bids, but when he chose Palin as his VP, I have to question his decision making. I am not proud of either candidate. Even on the local level. I would never vote for Savage, but I feel Hahn is just along for the ride. Nothing is getting changed, we don't seem to be moving forward. I think he is just status quo. Reichert and Howard, both of them I know. Good men, but again I don't see any leadership coming from them. Again just status quo. There is no one I am excited about. I feel real let down by our political system. Maybe my perfect candidate doesn't really exist. Maybe just a figment of my imagination.
Mobyadave posted a quote from Charles Baldwin that somes it up for me.
"In the first place, a wasted vote is a vote for someone you know does not represent your own beliefs and principles. A wasted vote is a vote for someone you know will not lead the country in the way it should go. A wasted vote is a vote for the "lesser of two evils." Or, in the case of John McCain and Barack Obama, what we have is a choice between the "evil of two lessers."
To all my friends out there go and vote. Vote for who you believe in. I, unfortunately, don't belive in any of them.
