Afternoon gents!

I do so like a good spar, but without taking any sides(you fellas obviously have "wagons to paint") there is much more to the "presto change-o" from the "Gold Standard" to the federal reserve (standard of nothingness). I cannot catch my afternoon winks without lamenting the same historical facts thereof. Aside of the theatrics posted within that commentary, he is actually correct. That's why in a  couple previous posts, I'll call critical, I begged for the return to our once supportive GOLD standard. As far as Kenedy's demise, I'll leave that to God and that day we'll all get to see what really happened?

But as one of you did point out, we really have no choice at this point. That is unless the U.S. monetary system does totally collapse, then we will have a choice hence (the Euro). Economics can be fun unless we are forced to relive and learn from our relatively short history. If China gets it's way, a one world currency is not far off. If we cannot curtail our indebtedness, they just might  one day have the power to get it done. Heavens to Betsy, I hope not. Fortunately most of us will be long gone before that might occur. But in all fairness to the one who posted up the history of the demise of the "Gold Standard" it is correct, but way to short to fully grasp the miriad of triggers and entities involved prior to 1934. We actually have one of those new Reserve Notes somewhere around here. I believe our treasurer then was Henry Morganthaw Jr. in 1934. I was surprised he/she didn't list the significance of the particular serial numbers and series. Then there was/is the replacement notes that I believe we still enlist for recovered currency or breakdown? Not sure how it's dealt with any longer. I'm much better with the numbers mix. Have fun but try to be civil.

God Bless.

The mighty chosen has peeked around the skirt of stenchy once again. You'll have to prove your assertion, once again, that anyone here thinks there is a connection between you two.

You and others? Who would that be, davieboy?

Answer a question? When a viable question gets asked, there will be an answer. Unlike with you. We are all still waiting for that proof, that I posted, that I don't post on other sites. Should be easy, but we all know you can't deliver. There is a time and date stamp on every post here....but you know what? A post from me saying I don't post on other sites just does not exist with a time and date stamp. Let's see now....that would make you a..... liar, just like Colin Powell. You already told us he's a liar, so his opinion now means nothing....just like yours. Who's looking the fool?

Likewise, you were challenged to deliver proof of my posting on other sites. We are still waiting for that too! I'll remind you every now and then about that. How's that impeachment coming along, anyway?  he he he he

Island greetings to you too!

There are many of us who simply enjoy a good old fashioned literary tussle, but when things get down right nasty, I prefer to turn the page. You are spot on, It was odd that after JFK took to wings, we lost our true monetary standard. Silver coin also seemingly for ever.... after 1964. My numismatic skills are frilly, but the Mr. could recite about every aspect of coin and currency back to the Revolutionary period. He held onto a large collection until we moved near-by from St. Louis some time back. I use to offer to toss some of those guidebooks he always ordered and left lie about as coasters once the newest release arrived. I had to laugh (loudly) by the way, when back a few months he was (sarcastically) telling me what gains he would have been burying in the duck yard had he not traded silver for green, back then while prices were WELL below five dollars an ounce.... I didn't chortle, but did lament, "I said to keep it if you want." But hey, we are still  able to find a meal among the dust bunnies on our pantry shelves.

All through my learning and into my teaching years, I had the grandest time grinding stone with opposing peers. I get the "point counter point" thinkers clearly, it's the mean spirited antagonist/protagonists that escape me. Plain orneriness can be reciprocated evenly, but those who toss those expletive stink bombs should step back a piece and breathe. It's been a short time for me among those such as yourself, while dealing with some chemo infusions, I don't get to interject as I would like, but at times I have so much to blather about while feeling better, I can get rather windy.

I was afflicted with a sharp wit as a youngun that did indeed catch me a stinging lesson a time or two. But all in all I got plenty a reprieve from "pappy" due to my emulation of his own brand of verbage.  Father didn't go far in commerce or fame, but did well enough as a boiler mechanic to keep a steady roof above our heads and always a full belly. I was a late arrival in their trudge-along lives, and for that I feel somewhat guilty that my older siblings were less fortunate in their youth. I was able to get a formal education, very thankful to get my degree, though economics might seem a strange path to some. Pappy, proud of his little "Rosebud"  always deliberate, struck often that we need good Econ educators or our country is doomed. So.......though I am opinionated at times, I'll try to be kind and respect your opinion(s) But be warned, it might behoove those who wish to battle economics, I have a few strengths within that realm and of our global financial problems. Like many I have read and agreed with most, I like McCain and feel for the position he's in, being so kind to Bush all these years hasn't served him well and gives a great many pause to support him. Then there's Gov. Palin. I'm sorry about that too. But I did learn as a young mother, wife and teacher to maintain that wise mantra, like whom you wish, but vote with a clear head and a steady heart. There requires great courage to choose thoughtfully rather in haste from passion.

So.........a little history, and a little levity, or a little too much? I thank you and anyone else with understanding and a kind word to hold onto for the end of another day. I loved to watch Red Skelton, and have since long ago, signed off as did he................. with a warm heartfelt,

God bless

Ah, c'mon, Daryl...your gonna split a gut there from laughing so hard.

An "extremely successful attorney"...who lowers himself during one of his extremely successful days, only to come to THIS lowly message board, of all places and things that he could be doing...

Personally, I have never been so graced and honored. What a thrill...way to go....man-o-man...peace.

Why thank you bigbrother.  You should feel graced and honored.

Actually it was a successful day.  I prefer to call a HUGELY profitable day for my client.  After closing arguments the Judge advises and reads to the jury the jury instructions as proposed and constructed by both counsels.  The jury is then escorted to a private room for deliberation.  I had my laptop with me and during the lull I was surfing my favorite websites and happened upon what YOU termed "this lowly message board."  After being called into chambers by his Honor with instructions the jury was being dismissed for the evening and would return on the morrow, I bid adieu to my client and returned to my office to catch up on a few comical riffs from you and your narrow-minded cohorts.  Imagine my surprise!  I just had to come back in and joust with you for old times sake.

Finally the jury returned a verdict for the Plaintiff.  Stifiling our apparent glee as the Judge awarded damages, in the mid-six figure range, I was compelled to stay away from this message board the past couple days completing my due diligence in setting my client up for financial counseling with his recent tax free windfall absent of course my 40% contingency retainer.

I'm thinking I'll park my 40% offshore.  It is a rather large and handsome amount of money.  I'd hate to think most of it would go to taxes.  What do you think bigbrother, darylmaximus, and Nigel?  If it was your money what would you do?  I'm also thinking of upgrading from my current BMW to a Jaguar XJE8.  What do you guys think?  I mean, it's corporate funds.  Ill-gotten gains of those who became filthy rich off the sweat and toil of their employees and who harbored the money for years themselves off-shore.

Here's the real kicker.  The Defendant in this action has no appealable issues.  I seen to that during and throughout discovery as well as during pre-trial motions.  Now we just await our check in the next 10 days to drop into my trust account for my client.

Yessir, America is a great, great country.
