Truth hurts..............Obama.

Would Obama come to terms with Iran as a nuclear power?

I guess my first response would have to be... So? This doesn't really say anything other than Obama and Clinton are lobbying for the Jewish vote and Bush didn't like it.

And then my second response would be... DEBKAfile? They're like the journalistic version of Russian roulette. Weren't they the ones that claimed to know exactly when, where, and how Hussein was going to use his WMD when we invaded Iraq in 2003. How'd that end up?

Look, if you want to trade articles, here's one where Brent Scowcroft (NSA for Ford and H.W. Bush) says Obama's exactly right in wanting to talk with Iran and the others. The point I was trying to make is that our current approach is clearly not working. Something new is needed.

From Haysus' post from Obama's website:  "If Iran abandons its nuclear program and support for terrorism, we will offer incentives like membership in the World Trade Organization, economic investments, and a move toward normal diplomatic relations."

WASHINGTON, March 10 - Europe and the United States have agreed on a joint approach to negotiating with Iran over its nuclear program after months of dispute, with the Bush administration agreeing to offer modest economic incentives and the Europeans agreeing to take the issue to the United Nations Security Council if negotiations fail, senior American officials said Thursday.

So Obama cites the approach that Bush already took in 2005 as his new plan of hope? So, Haysus; why aren't you questioning Obama's strategy here? He cites the same approach already used! Isn't that your point in all this?

Likewise; "we" do not have the authority to offer WTO incentive memberships. And as for Iran; they are already enjoined in the accession process to the WTO, held up though, but since 2005. This Obama is a moron!

I'd also like to know how the US has been "shocked" by Iran, to use your cute little metaphor?

Also; as you read more on Obama and his metaphors regarding the "carrot and the stick", one should note that he stole that from Hans Blix from 2004. Does Obama even have an original thought?

I see you haven't changed any, bigbrother. Still selectively quoting articles to try and justify your deluded worldview. Maybe you should consider reading the entire article before you quote the first paragraph. Allow me to fill you in on what you've apparently missed.

From the article:

...while the United States is a party to negotiations with North Korea, it does not plan to join the talks with Iran directly, officials said, leaving that to the Europeans.

Right, because outsourcing our foreign policy worked so well in Afghanistan. We were able to catch bin Laden and dismantle al Qaeda in no time. Wait... what's that? Oh! Well, then...

Also from the article (page two):

The Europeans, in contrast, have argued that unless the United States joined in the incentives they offered, Iran would never seriously consider giving up control of what is called the "nuclear fuel cycle," the ability to produce nuclear fuel itself.

So no. Obama's approach isn't the same as Bush's failed half-a@%ed attempt from 2005. Sorry.

And the shocked thing? Really, bigbrother, if you don't understand that metaphor, you're dumber than any of us thought.

And finally, the "carrot and stick" method of diplomacy wasn't invented by Blix. It's been around for centuries. However, I do believe that your boy, George, has misunderstood the concept. He seems to believe that you should eat the carrot and then use the stick to beat the daylights out of your adversaries.

I'm just wondering who the heck are you going to beat up when George is no longer in office? Regardless of popular opinion, George isn't the only "decider" - countless advisors - some from both "sides " do the deciding. I see that the left has done an admirable job with everything since 06!!!
