There was child abuse going on there. There's lots of evidence. Several of the adult women reportedly "left the sect voluntarily" once they were in safe hands. Of course there are not going to be a flock of witnesses and accuseres, most of those people would be quickly weeded out from the tightly controlled sect. Others were brainwashed at a young age that this is how we do things, that you should marry old men at young ages and that you should do whatever the profit tells you otherwise god would hate you. I doubt they had unlimited access to CNN or YouTube in there.
Except for marrying old men at young ages, it's a lot like any other religion. the brainwashing part, I mean.
