It's all about priorities and sense of values of our justice systems, it seems. I remember some three years ago some guy left a youngster in a car in the summer heat in San Mateo County, California. His brain was baked and he died.
A San Mateo county judge sentenced him to less time in prison than that same judge did a guy that was mad at his wife or girlfriend and who threw her pet out the car window into freeway traffic and it was killed. Criminal negligence murderer got less jail time than the animal cruelty perpetrator! Values and priorities.
