Did anybody read my "Letter to the Editor" regarding the posibility of a "School" stop sign on Cedar and Logan, for use during opening and closing of Hayes & the High School. I saw the letter "on line", but did NOT see it in the actual paper. The "on line" version was chopped SO badly, that I couldn't even understand what I was saying! IF you have to travel from West to the High School, it's next to impossible to pull out on Cedar. I'm NOW taking Fulliam to Houser to Cedar, and, is MUCH quicker! I WAS kind of hoping to get SOME kind of response from SOMEONE in the know, about the possibility of putting up the "tempory" stop signs, JUST to give it a try. Again, if the Journal printed my letter, like it showed up in the Journal "on line", I can certainly see why nothing has been said! What, if ANYTHING, do you folks think of the situation? Tom.

I read one of the replies that was made on the Journal website, Tom. Someone suggested you get up earlier to beat the rush.....they obviously don't have to go this way in the morning! As I said in that post, my son has a school permit and is supposed to go the shortest route, but I love my child too much to have him go to Cedar and he also goes Fulliam to Houser. We have lived on Logan for 13 years and were told the intersection does not need a stop sign, because there is one at Parham... I was told someone watch this intersection and they don't see any problems. They must have watched it at 11:00 p.m.. The morning school rush is horrible, but it can be bad all times of the day. With one car after another stopping and going at Parham, the cars are just spaced enough, it makes it hard to get onto Cedar. I just close my eyes and go!!! OK I am joking, I really just try to not go that way. Good luck getting something done, if you want to start a petition, let me know I will sign. Maybe we can get a very large group to go to a counsel meeting.

Are you talking about sign that would stay up all the time or signs that are moved during non peak times? |

Janitor, As far as I'm concerned, they would come down @ non-peak hours. Stop signs like ar had on LeRoy, for example. Maybe from 7am to 8:30am and from 2:30 to 4:30pm. One of the biggest reasons that, that intersection is so busy, is because of the stop sign on Parham and Cedar. IMHO. When it's slightly slick out, it's a real bear getting off of Logan. Don't forget that with the "Y" being there, there is a CONSTANT influx of traffic to/from the Y during those hours. And, getting UP earlier, would CERTAINLY be a viable option, IF it weren't for the kids! I could be there @ 5am IF, that's what it took! Different ethnics nowadays! Tom. |
