Right, it is extremely important to look for these types of warning signs. But it's also really hard to tell what is a true sign and what isn't. How many crazy people do you know that you think would go out and do something stupid like this, but haven't and probably never will? It's still unbelievable that these tragedies can play out like that.

When I was about 11-12 I gave up my comic books for Field & Stream, Outdoor life and other like magazines. I got my first shotgun then, which my grandson now has. When I was 15 Guns, Guns&ammo, Shooting Times and Gun World magazines hit the newstands. I bought all the first issues and many, many after that.  Back then, guns were more easily available than ever. Mail order too yet. Big guns too. 20mm anti-tank rifles, $100. Ammo for them, a buck a pop. Wholesale shootings like today were pretty much unheard of.

If I were 15 today and reading what I read then, I'd probably be sent off to be examined by counselers and liberal shrinks. IMO the key to the problem is buried out there in plain sight. It started with irresponsible parent/parents, lenient judges, Dr. Spock and other assorted nutcases wielding way too much influence and power. The PEOPLE have to take back the power.

We had the chance to turn the pages over
We can write what we wanna write
We gotta make ends meet before we get much older

We're all someones daughter
We're all someones son
How long can we look at each other
Down the barrell of a gun

You're the voice, try and understand it
Make a noise and make it clear
We're not gonna sit in silence
We're not gonna live with fear

This time you know we all can stand together
With the power to be powerful
Believing we can make it better

Oh, we're all someones daughter
We're all someones son
How long can we look at each other
Down the barrell of a gun

Gohawks... I appreciate your information.  Everyone that works for the U of I, or is a student of: got a "hawk alert"... that stated "there was an active shooter driving the Sierra Van in the Iowa City area & to take necessary precautions."  Information was  then heard on the news about the S.O.B. killing his family.

In my mind, gohawks, in my post, I grouped this idiot w/ the other shooters that decided their life wasn't worth living, so I might as well take others with me.  OK... he didn't kill "strangers"?  Does that make a difference?  He killed his "adopted kids" & wife.  He killed his FAMILY because he was... WHAT?  He went to church with his family the day before & probably took sacrament?  Did he know then what he was going to do?  In my world, & I know I'm not alone, it makes no sense.

I don't care what Mr. Suepple embezzled.  I care that he murdered 4 innocent children & his wife.  There are more out there like him.  I want to know how we protect our families from the crazy idiots that make this decision.

CHOSEN, the song lyrics you shared are touching, but they don't give an answer to the problem, da**it!  I'm ALL for loving our fellow man and for accepting people for who they are.  ABSOLUTELY!

I know this sounds harsh, you guys, and I mean no offense to you.  I'm not mad @ you.  I'm afraid for my children & grandchildren.  This kind of stuff just turns our world upside down, doesn't it?

These crimes and this "person" make me sick to my stomach.  But it should be noted that he apparently murdered his family with a baseball bat, not a gun.  Lets not get sidetracked on talking about "shooters" or guns here.

These are unspeakable offenses committed by a person who apparently had everything going for him, but still had to steal a half million dollars of other peoples money.  My  question would be why this "person" didn't just kill himself if he couldn't face up to what he did.   It apparently took three tries before he relieved the world of his presence.
