Why in the world are these crazy idiots doing what they are doing?  That crazy a** in Iowa City killed his wife & 4 kids & went on a shooting spree in a Sierra Van , (WHO SHOOTS PEOPLE IN A VAN)? because HE WAS UPSET!  WHAT THE HE**?

Someone gets upset w/ their boss, OR  think they are treated unfairly @ school, etc., etc., & decide to take it out on the world?  HOW DARE THEY?!  The newschannel I watched said he & his family attended Easter services on Sun.?  WHAT? HOW? WHY?

Terrorists are a threat to our country, to be sure.  THESE people are more of a threat to us @ this point.    I'm BETTING that there are many that have some fears about people they know.  I'm guessing that their fears have fallen on deaf ears because they "haven't committed a crime, YET".  Any solutions...besides arming ourselves with guns, please?

IMHO, first we must know how to defend and protect our families and selves. Second, since we cannot jail people based on what someone thinks they might do, at the same time we MUST learn to recognize the warning signs and act on them. There may not always be warning signs but how many of the past shootings were warning signs present?

Right, it is extremely important to look for these types of warning signs. But it's also really hard to tell what is a true sign and what isn't. How many crazy people do you know that you think would go out and do something stupid like this, but haven't and probably never will? It's still unbelievable that these tragedies can play out like that.

First, tlou, your facts are in error.  Mr Suepple was to be tried for embezzling close to a half million dollars from the bank he worked for. The money was spent largely on drugs.   He was guilty and he knew that his life was over.  Because he was a selfish S.O.B., he decided that that meant that his family's lives were over as well.  So, he shot his four adopted children and his wife, then drove his minivan into a bridge abutment causing it to burst into flames, killing him.  There was never a "shooting spree" in the van.  Other than his family, no one was shot at.

Just thought I'd set the record straight.  This tragedy has nothing to do with terrorism.
