Thanks for the response. I timed the page load just now and it took 98 seconds to load the page to read your reply. When I clicked on "reply," it took 138 seconds to get this page. My computer is almost 3 years old, which isn't new, but certainly can't be considered "old." I have 512MB memory, 40GB HD and I run defrag and all utilities on a regular basis. I have spyware detection software and the latest virus protection and know enough about the registry to know there are no problems there.

I don't have the highest speed, but have what Machlink calls "light" which is supposedly in between dial up and their high-speed, although I have to admit it's doggone slow lately. Other sites load much faster than this one, though.

Lovely!  OK, looking at the logs I see that part of the problem is that your browser is downloading a lot of the "accessory" stuff on the page (images, background, Javascript) on every page load.  It shouldn't - our server tells your browser that those things don't change often (unlike actual content) so it doesn't need to check for new copies... obviously we're not being aggressive enough with that.

Clicking on "reply" will be an extreme example of this because the new editor has a lot of baggage - if things are working right, the page might take a little longer than most the first time you hit it (like maybe 10 seconds, not 100!) but only the first time you edit a message.  Subsequent times your browser is supposed to notice it already has all that baggage in its cache and not download it again.

Would love some feedback from other Machlink users on whether you also have page load times well over a minute.  Shouldn't be a Machlink issue but just want to be sure.

There are some sites out there with speed tests that will tell you exactly what speed you're actually getting, by the way.  Not particularly relevant here but if you're curious how your actual speed compares to the advertised speed, that's a good way to find out.

Just FYI, It took me 4 seconds to download to here.  I have Machlinks' super duper speed though.  And YES, it can be slow....Sometimes it is, and the next time it isn't.

Again, where the "12" and the pencil are, could you PLEASE let us be able to change the font size?  Thought at first, that, that's what the "12" was ALL about.  I think that a LOT of us here in Muscatine @ Machlink, prefer the "old" way that the pages read.  Again, if 1 person comments to a "year old" discussion, and, there are 3-4 other relative discussions going on, the 1 year old discussion will be at the top of the page, just because somebody dug it up, and commented on it.  Nobody else will have a clue as to what it's about, but, it'll be at the TOP OF THE PAGE!  Please give  US the option of how we see the pages.  I believe in one of your other discussions, you said that, that was doable.  Thankx.  Tom.
