I thought the speed issues with this site were being resolved. It's so slow that I doubt I'll be back. I don't have the time to sit here while each page takes 2 or 3 minutes to load. Plus the new layout is not user friendly: you can only see a few posts and the time it takes to load a new page is absolutely ridiculous. There are times when change is good, but change just for the sake of change is not, and I think that's what a lot of this is.

I tend to agree with you, this site DOES have an issue w/speed.  Tom.

Howdy again - speed problems are being resolved, but we're not there yet!  Average page load time in the discussion area today is 3.5 seconds... that's about twice as fast as a few weeks ago but nowhere near good enough.  Newer hardware is here and should be installed soon - that alone will help but there are some programming changes I can make after we have that hardware in place that will make an even bigger difference.

My immediate goal is to get average page load times down under 1 second - probably about 5x as fast as it is right now.  If you're ever getting page load times over 1 minute, there may be additional problems on your end that won't be resolved by the changes mentioned above.  Do you have an old/slow computer, or slow Internet connection?  (I'm not going to blow you off if so, just thinking that different fixes may be needed if the site is putting the hurt on old computers.)

As far as only being able to see a few posts... we got plenty of complaints about the old format, because you had to click on every single post to read it.  Reading a 4-post topic is now one click instead of 4.  Hopefully once the pages load quickly the layout change will help you read discussions faster, not slower.
