St. Patty's Day Kick Ya, I hear you Nedl!  I was never brought up to be a hunter.  My folks LOVED to fish.  So, in my early years, I was a fisherman.  Now have NO time, for any of it.  When in Viet Nam, was told that, IF you owned a gun, you need to be trained in how to use it BEFORE someone uses it on you!  And, it BETTER be LOADED, IF you intend on using it!  The problem is, as I see it, that IF guns are illegal, the only people who will turn them in, are the law abiding citizens.  Joe Blow criminal won't be turning HIS/HERS in.  We don't own a gun in THIS household, merely for the fact that there are WAY too many irresponsible people living here.  Even though, I HAVE thought about it several times.  Thank GOD that Muscatine doesn't warrant having to own a weapon just to defend your household!  For one thing, just look at the kids stealing their parents firearms to take to school and do whatever.  Safes are generally useless, because the kids know where the key is (even if they're not supposed to), AND, a locked up gun doesn't protect ANYONE!  I'm STILL wondering where you're getting these smiley faces that I can't seem to find!  IF you would send them to me in an email (roh2o@machlink.com), I'd appreciate it!  Thankx buddy, have a GREAT day!

Ryan,

Sorry but I respectfully disagree with you For the following reasons.

 1. I have never saw anyone being dragged in to a business that allows smoking. It is about choice, just like the order you place is all about choice, your choice. Next they will weigh you to determine the food you may have. Overweight, lettuce no salad dressing, maybe some celery. I am sure you get the idea.

2. Do you ride the city buses ? Check the right rear corner and tell me what that black smoke is boiling out of there.

3. How much Pollutant is put in the air by lawn mowers mowing city as well as 2 to 3 acre lots. Yes I agree they look nice but at what cost to the enviroment ?

4. I take a drug Revlimid, for 21 days of 28 each month. It is keeping the cancer in check. It was pulled from the market years ago because it caused birth defects in a pregnant women. So in your way of thinking ban it and I have one less choice to fight the battle.

In my opinion you need to rethink your way of thinking if you are serious about running for public office because you would be representing all the peoples choices, not just yours. Thank you for your time.

First...I need to comment on the representatives who are in office....most don't care what we want!  They have their own opinions about everything and that is all that matters to them!

Jeff Kauffman actually made contact with people in his district and asked their opinion.

Nathan Reichert...well, it has been 2 weeks since I left him a message, told him I had a question about the ban and asked him to return my call.....RIGHT!  I knew he wouldn't, but had to try.

Second...all the talk is bars and restaurants. What about other businesses?  We own our business and the land it is on, we pay our employees (all 10 of them), and we pay 75% of their health insurance.  We pay our property taxes, sales taxes, and payroll taxes.  All 10 of us are in 4 different buildings and I work alone in my office.  It is our choice if we smoke or not!!  We have many customers who smoke and we don't smoke if a customer is not a smoker (common courtesy).  Why does anyone have the right to tell ANY business owner whether or not they can allow smoking?  Maybe, they would like to pay our taxes and employees?  Heck, maybe they want to own all the businesses and then they would have the right to say how everything should be!  Until they do all of that they can let us all decide for ourselves, we are not children and do not break any laws, so let us decide what we want at OUR business.
