How about those roads this morning??? Side roads are terrible. Washington School was having a difficult time and I believe requested additional help from the city (don't quote me on that) Getting my kids to school was a blast for them, they were laughing so hard cause mom was 4 wheelin all the way there! Even though I got my kids to school, Im not to sure if enough thought was given to delay or cancel school.. Oh well my kids had a great time, and we are all safe which is what matters most.

A real mess
The left-turn lanes on the bypass were not plowed as of 10:15 this morning, and there were several near misses near Mulberry/61. There was an accident near the Bonnie Dr. entrance to the high-school.
Seems like today, a 2 hour delay just wasn't enough. I know how difficult it is to make that call, but I think they should always lean toward safety, and think less about ITBS and having to make up a snow day. Just my opinion, but the roads were horrible, and it would have been better to cancel.

On The Other Hand...
Yes, the roads were still a mess in town today even though 19 hours had passed since it had stopped snowing. It seemed that very little snow removal had been done by the city around the elementary schools as of 10am. School properties all had been thoroughly cleaned, however. The biggest impediment to traffic around schools though, are the many parents who insist on driving little Dick and Sally to school, even though they may live only two or three blocks away, even in fair weather. And once at school, these parents are so inconsiderate that they completely ignore all signs (and the law) and routinely occupy the bus loading/unloading zones as they watch their precious little darlings dawdle into the building. School officials, who are tired of being fingered and cursed at by these upstanding examples of parenting perfection, are loath to take any action. I see it everyday.

Have to agree
I live 2 blocks from a school. I have neighbors who drive their kids every day. Not only that, but they start the car a good 20 minutes before they leave and let it run. What a waste! The mother doesn't work so she could just as easily walk the kids to school if she's worried about them.
Same goes for picking them up. Run the car for 20 minutes and then pick up kids. They could walk home faster than it takes her to get them.
And while we're on the subject, why do kids get out of the car at a stop sign, go around to the driver's window and then stand there and talk or be given something? Why isn't that done BEFORE they get out of the car? There are times traffic is backed up almost to my house which blocks an intersection.
As for the plowing...I don't know about any areas except mine and it was in great shape this morning. All the side streets had been plowed. I walked the dog at the discovery center and didn't see any streets on the way that weren't cleared and for the most part just wet with a few spots of slushy snow, including Bartlett and Parham.
