There are a lot of people in jail or prison for doing wrong things. But I also know first hand that there are a lot of men and women in prison for something they had nothing to do with. I know how could that be, it's not true, they don't put away innocent people, well guess again they do, and they do it every day without a thought about what it does to their families or businesses or care about the person they did it to.

I know of many cases where where a person who does preform a violent crime, go to trail be found guilty appeal the case and stay out of prison until after the appeal, but then I also know of cases where a person who did not do a violent crime will sit in prison the whole time. I also know that a trial judge can not make a decision for sentencing a person on their own anymore, they have a guideline list the must follow and there is a point scale on that list. They have to use that list to determine how much time you serve, and most generally non violent criminals get longer sentences then violent criminals.

There have been so many people on death row and after the fact the government finds out they where wrong and the person was innocent. Poor person died for something he didn't do.

Anyways I wouldn't be complaining about what a nice officer decides to do with his or her money or time. That is not the problem. The thing you should be mad about it the fact that YOUR tax money is paying for a lot of INNOCENT people to be taken away from their families!!!

aussilee2...jail...You are so right...the main problem with what you're talking about lies with assistant D.A.'s willing to twist information and coach state witnesses on what to say on the stand ( i.e. the infamous police officer lying yet avoiding a perjury charge by responding " I don't recall") because they're there to win the case not seek justice. These are the worst of our criminal system along with the law enforcement officers that play along. Take muscatine for example, how many counties do you know of where in the county seat the county attorney and the city attorney are also in private practice together? Creates a conflict of interest don't you think? Well, you must remember, it's their interests that come first here, not ours. Non-the-less, the cable televised city council meetings is the best place for expressing this and at the voting polls at county attorney election time.
