Montclair

The East Montclair neighborhood is approximately one square mile of land located between the old Lowry Air Force Base on the south side and the former Stapleton International Ariport on the north. Boundaries for this area are Yosemite Street on the east (Also the Denver-Aurora city limits), Quebec Street on the west, 11th Avenue on the south, and Montview Boulevard/23rd Avenue on the north. Boundaries for this neighborhood also, coincide with the U.S. Census Tract 44.01.

The town The East Montclair was incorporated back in 1888 and still shows signs of the rich history of the neighborhood in the existing residences throughout the area, some dating back to the early 1800's. In the 1930's U.S. Highway 40 (Colfax Avenue) was completed and connected to U.S. Interstate 70, which inturn served as an informal "town center" for several decades. Along with the neighborhood's connection to the heart of Downtown Denver through the "Colfax Corridor" the area has seen and will continue to see a continued growth and development.

East Montclair Neighborhood Association, Inc. (EMNA) is a Colorado not-for-profit corporation established in 1973. Part of the historic town of Montclair, EMNA is one of the oldest neighborhood organizations in Denver. EMNA is a coalition of business, homeownesr, renters, elected officials, and property owners.

 

About our association

Neighborhood Associations, The Beacon Club, Inc.

The East Monclair neighborhood has two active neighborhood associations. The first association being The Beacon Club, Inc. which is a not for profit partnership agency of the Denver Police Department. The Beacon Club, Inc. has developed and continued direct communication with the Denver Police Departments Districts Two and Three and shares space with Neighborhood Police Officers from both. BCI is a community development office acting as a liaison between various city agencies, local business owners and residents, between Colorado Boulevard and Yosemite Street in east central Denver. Areas of assistance are offered in zoning and licensing issues, crime prevention and safety and quality of life concerns. BCI also, focuses on economic development along the East Colfax corridor.


Recent accomplishments include:
> The facilitation of handicapped access ramps on East Colfax Avenue.
> The implementation of over 42 street and alley lights.
> The procurement of police equipment for neighborhood police officers. (bikes, computers, video equipment, etc..)
> The establishment of a Colfax storefront office serving six neighborhoods.
> Assisted in the closure of dozens of public nuisance cases, involving criminal activity.
