Irving Woods is a small, safe neighborhood of single family bungalows, surrounded by Shiller Woods Forest Preserve and 3 cemeteries, making this a desirable area for young families who want proximity to nature and a quiet, suburban almost rural atmosphere. Most homes have garages and driving is the most common form of transportation for this neighborhood. There is no train service but it is served by the CTA. Primarily residential, there are some services on bordering main thoroughfares, but major shopping will require a drive.
